You’ve seen them on our stories and social media but have you met the people behind the brand? We kick off our Chab Monthly with a 10-minute rapid fired round interview featuring the staff that make Chab Events the agency that it is.

She’s quick wit and grace. Lilybeth, or Beth as she is affectionately known to us, joined Chab Events in June 2019 and has since proven to us that she is a force of nature. Her energy is infectious and her positivity can turn a stressful situation around in a matter of minutes.

Having worked across the region for some time before she moved to Singapore, Beth brings along a unique understanding of the landscape in Asia. A dedicated mother, she balances work with family all while fitting in time to train for her marathons — where she find the time or energy, is a mystery to us and her. We managed to squeeze in 10 minutes with Beth in between meetings to find out a little bit more about the woman, the myth, the legend.

Seated in the back of a taxi on our way to a meeting, we had our questions at the ready and waiting. Our rapid-fire interview was about to begin….

[Chab]

Ready, Beth?

[Beth]

Ready but a little nervous!

[C]

Don’t worry about it. Here we go. OK, tell us the top 3 qualities you think an event planner should have.

[B]

1) They have to be problem solvers. If there’s a will, there is a way.

2) You have to be flexible. Being rigid and sticking to a one-track mindset can hold you back. Always remember that there is more than one way to cross the bridge!

3) Passion. Without a doubt, You have to be passionate about the job.

[C]

Complete this sentence “when everything goes south you should….”?

[B]

…face it head-on and get the shit done! (pardon my French!)

[C]

The best travel destinations that fuel your creativity

[B]

You can find me where the sky meets the sea!❤️ The best travel destination is where I can get a great tan line.

[C]

How do you motivate your team

[B]

The folks in my team have different personalities and temperaments so there is no sure-fire method. But growing up, my family always showed appreciation for one another with good food. A good meal can cure just about anything and that’s what I like to do to motivate my team and bring them together. Good food = good mood.

[C]

What is the one word you hate to hear as an event planner?

[B]

“Late”. I’m an event planner and it’s a big no-no when you’re planning an event! I do my best to be in time to any appointment or meeting I go to so when I hear the phrase “I am late” it can drive me up the wall. In events, you cannot turn back time, once a moment is gone, you lose it forever.

[C]

If you weren’t an event planner you would be…?

[B]

I’d probably be a flight attendant with my itchy feet and the travel bug! Otherwise, I’d be an engineer or newscaster! Was about to do Double Major in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Mass Communication.

[C]

Your five favourite themes so far?

[B]

1) Pop art

2) Anything related to Christmas,

3) Masquerade,

4) Disney movies or the princesses

5) and lastly Candyland!

[C]

Who do you look up to?

[B]

Very interesting question, honestly, I don’t have anyone specific that I look up to. I know that sounds odd but one thing I’ve always set for myself  “I have to better than who I am right now”. I strive to improve myself and to do that I make it a goal to always outdo myself. So I guess, I will always be looking up to my future self!

[C]

If you could be anywhere right now, where would you be?

[B]

The Maldives! lounging at my ocean villa! The sun, the sand, the sea. They call to me!

[C]

If you could have one superpower what would you have?

[B]

Oh my goodness… I’m torn. I would love to have the superpower to turn back time! But I’d also love to have the superpower to read everyone else’s mind. That would make some days so much easier! (Laughs out loud)

[C]

What is the one song that gets you on the dance floor even if you’re working

[B]

Oh my! I`m not good with songs… I’ll have to go with Spice up your Life by the spice girls! #spicegirlforlife
